52nd Pick in Draft, Garza, Inks Two-Way Deal

The 2020-21 Wooden Award winner is officially signed with the Detroit Pistons, per Shams Charania.

Most Pistons fans tuned into Summer League to catch their first glimpses of Cade Cunningham in a Detroit jersey.

Cade impressed, no doubt, but it’s Luka Garza who has been the biggest surprise of summer league for Detroit.

The 22 year-old big man was well respected in the college ranks but considered to be too slow-footed and old-fashioned of a center to be highly effective in the NBA.

Garza turned a lot of heads when news came out that he had lost around 30 pounds since leaving the the Iowa Hawkeye program. The effects of that extra weight coming off is a noticeable uptick in speed and athleticism.

Pair that with Luka’s deep offensive bag, and the Pistons have found themselves a center with incredible potential.
