In a move that will meet no resistance from hoops fans, South Carolina has extended coach Dawn Staley. The new $22.4 million contract will keep Staley in Columbia for another 7 years.
Coach Staley has taken the Gamecocks to the final four three separate times, and won it all in 2017 alongside A’ja Wilson.
Her career as a collegiate head coach began at Temple University, all while Staley was still an active WNBA for the Charlotte Storm.
The overall impact Dawn Staley has had on basketball is undeniable, and fans of the sport should be elated that she’ll remain at the helm of South Carolina Women’s Basketball for the foreseeable future.
