The 2021 offseason saw an uptick in player movement, and there are even more marquee free agents available this time around!

How does WNBA Free Agency Work?
Unrestricted Free Agents have the ability to negotiate with any team in the league for a new contact. Each WNBA team does have a core designation, and when applied to a player it allows them to keep an unrestricted free agent with the club for one year under a supermax contract. This process is sometimes referred to as “coring” a player, and often is a team’s first move in free agency.
Restricted Free Agents are, as the name suggests, limited in their free agency. They can negotiate with any team they’d like to, but their current team has the right to match any other contact offer. This stage of free agency typically comes around after a play has completed their rookie contract, which often falls after their fourth year of service.
When Does 2022 WNBA Free Agency Begin?
The WNBA announced that teams can begin negotiating with free agents on January 15th, 2022, and new contracts can be signed on or after February 1, 2022.
