Four WNBA franchises and fanbases waited anxiously on Sunday afternoon to learn when they’d pick in the upcoming draft.
Washington, Indiana, and Atlanta all missed the playoffs last year and found themselves in the lottery. Dallas had the rights to Los Angeles’ lottery spot, defeating the Sparks in the last game of the year to prevent them from making the playoffs.
Bethany Donaphin, head of league operations, revealed the order of the top four picks live on ESPN. The Mystics ultimately came away with the top selection in April’s draft and will have a chance to build on a roster that, if healthy, is a top tier contender.
