The Grizzlies have consistently out-performed expectations during the Ja Morant era. Perhaps we should stop doubting the ceiling-raising capabilities of the explosive guard from Murray State.
Memphis is off to a 2-1 start after missing an opportunity to close against LA. Still, this young Grizzlies team is turning heads, and Morant is at the center of all their success.
We’re talking about three games here, so let the following number be proceeded by a warning: the sample size is minuscule here. With the disclaimer out of the way, Ja’s numbers in the first three games speak for themselves.
He’s at an all-world level of 35 point and 8 assists, with shooting splits of 58% fg / 44.4% 3pt / 81% ft.
If he can keep up anything close to this level, he’ll make all-star selections particularly difficult in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies are back in action tomorrow night against Portland, and with the history that Ja has already with the Trail Blazers, we should be in for a treat.
